Krknjaši Veli island in Croatia
Krknjaši Veli, which means “Great Krknjaši,” is a small, uninhabited islet in the Adriatic Sea. It´s located east of the island of Drvenik Veli, from which it is about 600 meters away, and south of the islet of Krknjaš Mali. Its a small piece of land, typical of the Dalmatian archipelago. Its landscape is rugged and simple, mostly covered with low-growing Mediterranean scrub, bushes, and aromatic herbs. There are no permanent human settlements on the islet or that we know existed in the past. The coastline of Krknjaši Veli is rocky. It provides a contrast to the sandy seabed of the lagoon. These rocks are home to different types of sea life. The islet itself is a small, natural habitat. It contributes to the natural wealth of the area. It is a quiet place where nature remains largely untouched.
Together with the main island and the smaller islet, Krknjaši Mali, it creates a protected space. This space is famous for its role in forming the natural wonder known as Krknjasi Bay, also called the Blue Lagoon!
The islet acts as a natural barrier. It shields the bay from the open sea. This protection is vital. It keeps the water inside the lagoon calm and still. The calm water is one reason why the Blue Lagoon is so clear. The clear water and the bright, sandy bottom are what give the lagoon its famous turquoise color. Krknjaši Veli is essential to the lagoon’s existence and its unique appearance.
The Krknjasi Bay is more than just a beautiful sight. It is an important ecological zone. The sheltered nature of the lagoon creates a stable marine habitat. This habitat supports a rich variety of aquatic life, which represents the region’s natural wealth. Because of this biodiversity, the lagoon is a popular spot for underwater exploration. Snorkeling and diving here offer a chance to see the Mediterranean ecosystem up close.

Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions.
We recommend bringing swimwear, sunscreen, towels, hats, sunglasses and maybe some snacks or fruits.
And please arrive at the meeting point 30 minutes before departure.

If you want to get cocktails at beach bars, we recommend bringing cash.
We also have a bar on the boat in case you want to grab a beer, soda or snacks which are not included and are sold separately.
